Just as each home is unique, each garage door is also unique.
Just as each home is unique, each garage door is also unique. Nonetheless, there are standard steps involved in quoting estimates for garage door installation and repairs. At Mark’s Garage Door Services, we strive to make the process of obtaining estimates as transparent as possible.
A lot of the initial quoting process for garage door installation can be done over the phone. Many times, customers will see a garage door they like on a website, or even on a neighbor’s house, and ask if a similar door can be installed on their house and how much it will cost. In such cases, a good way to generate an estimate is to have the customer submit a photo of the door they want, along with the measurements of their present garage door. That way it’s easy for us to determine what type of hardware is required, and how much it will cost to install it.
After hearing an initial estimate, many people decide that the price for the garage door they initially wanted is too high, and possibly beyond their budget. We strive to work within your budget, while explaining the advantages of a higher quality product, and how investing in a quality door now can save you money in the future, because it will require less maintenance and repairs. Ultimately, the choice is yours.
Quoting Process for Garage Door Repair
The first step in generating a quote for a garage door repair is to have the customer explain the problem. Many times, the problem is as simple as items in the garage setting of the sensor, and a lot of troubleshooting can be done over the phone. In such cases, there is no charge. If it’s necessary to go on site for a repair call, I charge $85 per hour, a rate which hasn’t changed since 2008. The costs for actual repairs can vary, depending on the nature of the problem and the type of garage door.
